Rugby 7

Sevens Rugby is a variant of normal rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players instead of fifteen, with shorter matches. A normal 7’s match consist of two halves of seven minutes with a one-minute half-time break. The game is popular amongst the High Schools in our area and tournaments are hosted every year, the famous one being the @lantic 7’s Tournament . For a number of years Pinetown has participated in this tournament and will follow that same tradition again this year. Over the last few years the Pinetown team has performed exceptionally well and have been successful in reaching the semi-final or the final stage resulting in PBHS winning the Shield in 2007 and the Plate in 2008. In 2010 Pinetown, for the first time, competed in the Gelofte Tournament, finishing third overall after a very long and tough day. Although Sevens Rugby is a reasonably new sport at Pinetown, there is a lot of interest from the boys and the future looks good for Sevens at Pinetown Boys’ High School.
