Technology: Grade 8 and 9

At Pinetown Boys’ High School Technology is divided into 2 main categories: Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design (GRDS used to be called Technical drawing).  Learners are taught these as 2 separate subjects and it gives learners a strong foundation should they choose to continue in any of the Technical subjects offered at the school from Grade 10.

Our learners have an advantage in that should they choose Engineering Graphics and Design and or Mechanical Technology in Grade 10, they will already have had the basic grounding in these subjects.

Technology involves learning about basic structures and systems.  GRDS involves learners using Technical Drawing boards and equipment and learning the basics of precise and accurate mechanical drawings.  They are both “hands on” and very rewarding subjects and usually enjoyed by most.
